Examinations

Believe in Music Studio’s philosophy is that music can be enjoyed with family and friends, complementing special occasions and harmonizing any day in a special way. In participating in our annual recitals, students develop their stage presence and confidence in front of fellow students and families while also appreciating the hard work and improvements of others.

In addition to the Believe in Music Studio recitals, we also encourage our students to set goals and targets through exams, competitions and performances which take place and are recognized in the United States and overseas. Our students’ dedication results in performances in the most prestigious venues (including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall and Steinway Hall) and international cultural exchanges (including performances in Russia, Israel and France).

Students also succeed in well-regarded exams (including Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examination and the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival). To find out more about these unique development and performance opportunities, please see below:

Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Examination

Believe in Music Studio offers top-quality preparation for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examination and has been recognized as the best in music instruction in the Tri-State Area for nearly two decades. We have a 100% success rate, with our students receiving marks well above the international averages. Believe in Music Studio has also been presented the prestigious Royal ABRSM Plaque for teaching at the highest distinction mark in the Tri-State Area multiple times (attaining this award even once is a big honor in itself!).

ABRSM is an examination board based in London which provides exams in music centers around the world. ABRSM oversees graded exams and Diploma qualification in music, with the Queen of England as the official patron. Each year, more than 650,000 candidates take ABRSM examinations in over 99 countries.

In the US, Canada, UK, most of Europe and other parts of the world, the ABRSM grading system is endemic to formal music.

Five reasons to complete the ABRSM Examination:

  1. Motivation and inspiration – students work from a carefully-structured syllabus towards a definite goal.
  2. The exam provides students with a measure of personal progress and attainment against internationally recognized benchmarks.
  3. It is an objective guide to improve students’ musical skills.
  4. Students are assessed by a respected and highly-trained professional musician.
  5. Students are provided with a performance opportunity and feel a real sense of achievement afterwards.

National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC)

Believe in Music Studio offers the best preparation for the NFMC Junior Festival in North Jersey with a comprehensive curriculum and our own unique method of performing strategies. Our students consistently get the top ratings and are recognized with personalized trophies and gold cups.

The NFMC is one of America’s largest music organizations promoting American music, performers and music education. The NFMC strives to nurture a love of music and a growing technical mastery in participating students. The NFMC is chartered by the US Congress and is the only music organization member of the United Nations.

Every Spring, the NFMC conducts their annual Junior Festival, with more than 117,000 participants nationwide. The Junior Festival gives students an opportunity to perform in front of a judge and be evaluated on their musical growth, gaining confidence and recognition through the process. Students are praised for what they do well and are also given constructive suggestions as to how they can improve. While the Junior Festival is not a competitive event, it gives students an opportunity to perform and receive evaluation.

NFMC Awards:

  1. Superior Certificate – awarded to every student who receives a superior mark in any event
  2. NJ Trophy – a special award for the purpose of encouraging students to play in multiple events
  3. Gold Cup Award – presented every 3 years to every student who has accumulated Superior Certificates during this period
